Asia's Biggest Toy Fair in the Spotlight
Baby Products, Stationery and Licensing Fairs Also Open

HONG KONG, Jan 9, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Environmentally friendly toys, stationery and baby products and a full programme of international speakers and award presentations have attracted more than 2,600 exhibitors to four trade fairs, which opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, Asia's largest, and the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, 9-12 January, are organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The HKTDC and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd are staging the concurrent Hong Kong International Stationery Fair. The three product fairs are complemented by the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show, which runs to 11 January. Together, they have drawn more than 130 buying missions and over 8,800 buyers from around the world.

The 38th Toys & Games Fair welcomes first-time participants from Greece, Macau, Russia and Ukraine. Group pavilions bring together companies from the Chinese mainland, India, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand. Other highlights include the World of Toys Pavilion, a new Animal Kingdom product zone, the return of the Eco Toys Display Zone and Brand Name Gallery, which boasts a record 80 exhibitors 30 per cent more than last year. The Hong Kong Toys Conference, which looks at the latest safety directives from the European Union and the United States, will take place tomorrow, along with seminars exploring toy sourcing and market trends, as well as environmental design trends in toys, stationery and baby products.

Baby Show Turns Three

Exhibitors to the Baby Products Fair are up more than six per cent over last year. The event welcomes first-time participants from Colombia, Poland and South Africa. The fair also presents the Hong Kong Toys and Baby Products Awards 2012, which awards prizes for the best baby toys, baby wear and accessories, strollers, and other baby-care products, as well as educational toys and electronic and remote-control toys. A targeted session on the latest consumer trends, safety directives and design requirements for baby products will take place today.

Top Stationery Event

The 12th edition of the Stationery Fair hosts first-time participants from Costa Rica, Italy, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Group pavilions have been set up for exhibitors from the mainland, Taiwan and Thailand, and special product zones focus on children's stationery and school supplies, gift stationery, office supplies, and paper and printing products. International stationery experts are taking part in fair seminars, including a spotlight on stationery trends and market opportunities in Japan and South Korea. A Stationery Fair Networking Reception and the third Hong Kong Stationery Award Presentation will take place tomorrow evening.

Licensing Turns 10

The show's 10th edition builds on a decade of success, this year attracting more than 170 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions and featuring over 500 properties. Debuting at the show are the game phenomenon "Angry Birds," as well as the mainland's "Shan Mao" and "Pororo the Little Penguin" from South Korea. The licensing show has attracted first-time exhibitors from Germany and Vietnam, and pavilions from the mainland, Japan, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
