Singapore, May 21, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - The growing appetite of consumers in the Asia Pacific region for Pay-TV continues to capture the attention of international broadcasters and content producers. The region is forecasted to see over 20 million new Pay-TV subscribers per year, with revenues for the sector growing to US$20 billion by 2013.
In efforts to grow its presence in the emerging markets in Asia, the world's leading French language general entertainment channel TV5MONDE will leverage on the BroadcastAsia2009 International Conference to meet and network with key decision makers and leaders in the Pay-TV industry in Asia. TV5MONDE has also announced the launch of its second Asian channel in September this year catering especially to audiences in Japan, Korea and Australasia. Its first channel, TV5MONDE Asie, was distributed in Asia in 1996 and has reached more than 17 million households via cable, satellite and IPTV.
TV5MONDE broadcasts 24/7 and offers a variety of subtitled prime time films, in-depth coverage of international news, live world-class sports events, high-quality documentaries and magazines, kids' cartoons, entertaining lifestyle programs and game shows.
"As BroadcastAsia is one of the largest industry events in the region, it was natural for us to be actively involved and use this powerful platform to get our message across to Pay-TV decision makers and celebrate our 25th anniversary with as many industry friends as possible," said Mr Alexandre Muller, Managing Director of TV5MONDE, Asia.
