International Scientific, Environmental and Analytical Technology Business Event Returns to Suntec Singapore this November
Business and industry leaders will convene at CIA2011, AnaLabAsia2011 and EnviroAsia2011 to capitalise on growing demand for environment analysis in Asia

SINGAPORE, Aug 26, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Asia is fast emerging as a global powerhouse in the research & development front, given the sheer market growth and the size of its talent and resource base. While North America remains dominant in terms of gross domestic expenditure on R&D (GERD) with 37 per cent share, Asia is fast catching up as the second largest investor in R&D with 32 per cent share, overtaking Europe.

AnaLabAsia2011 - Mirroring Demand for Further Progress of Analytical Sciences in Asia

Singapore targets to increase its Gross Expenditure on R&D (GERD) from three per cent of its GDP in 2010 to 3.5 per cent by 2015[1]. This will spur activity in both public and private sectors and eventually the need for the latest equipment and technologies in analytical science. Beyond Singapore's shores, Asia is outpacing other regions in R&D spending and looks set to become the growing hub of scientific research; with China's scientific publishing output predicted to overtake the US in 2013[2]. Businesses in the analytical technology, laboratory technology, biotechnology and diagnostics industry can now look to AnaLabAsia2011 as the region's timely platform to meet new customers and partners, seek latest industry knowledge, and source for business opportunities.

EnviroAsia2011 - Addressing Asia's Massive Urbanisation Challenges

Asia, a region home to almost three billion people, is a rising economic giant facing immense challenges like rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, environmental pollution, global warming, deforestation and waste disposal, which are aggravated by urban expansion in the continent; in particular in China and India. Asian cities undergoing rapid growth are in urgent need to improve resource efficiency to achieve sustainable development.

China has surpassed the U.S. as the world's largest producer of waste. The economic powerhouse aims to have 30 per cent of its waste treated by waste to energy technologies by 2030, and it is looking at investing massive resources to upgrading its waste infrastructure. Likewise many other Southeast Asian countries are now spending money to upgrade their waste systems[3].

EnviroAsia2011, a timely exhibition gathers leading environmental technology and solution providers from across the globe to address the urgent demand for governments and industries to alleviate the undesirable outcomes of relentless urban growth in Asian cities.

CIA2011 will launch New Offshore Automation Feature in Response to Robust Growth In Asian Offshore Oil And Gas Sector

Asia's healthy economic growth has heightened demand for energy in the region. According to EIA estimates, oil consumption in developing Asian countries is expected to rise by 2.7 per cent annually from about 14.8 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) in 2004 to nearly 29.8 MMbbl/d by 2030[4]. China is expected to account for almost half the growth. Despite the austere global sentiment, the underlying economic drivers in Asia, in particular the emerging markets, reveal bullish demand for oil and energy[5] as countries with big population are steadily shifting into higher income brackets.

In view of the vast potential in the offshore industry, Controls Instrumentation and Automation 2011 (CIA2011), Asia's leading process engineering, controls instrumentation and scientific equipment exhibition, will present a new offshore automation feature this year, where visitors will see the latest process control and instrumentation solutions for offshore oil and gas.

Strong Presence of International Industry Players

With much of the economic growth concentrated in Asia, leading market leaders will seek to gain a larger foothold in the continent by participating in the shows. Visitors can expect to see international players like Daihan Scientific, DKSH, EMCLab, Esco Micro, Finetek, Hellma-Asia, Intermass Fischer, IT Technologies, ITS, Johnson Scientific, Magnetrol, Seat Ventilation, Teplocom, United Scientific and Yoshimura at AnaLabAsia2011 and CIA2011.

The Singapore pavilion headed by The Singapore Manufacturers' Federation (SMa) since 2003, and the German pavilion led by Baden-Wurttemberg since 2005 will represent a strong line-up of exhibitors at AnaLabAsia2011.

Following the success in the previous edition of EnviroAsia, The Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) will again bring to the show The Singapore Waste Technology Pavilion, and is expected to be boosted by even more exhibitors this year.

Conferences will focus on operations sustainability, process automation and plant safety

With spotlight on the energy and offshore industries at the exhibition, the Plant Processes and Control Networks Conference 2011 will address pertinent issues in various applications and implementation in plant automation for the offshore industry. As process engineering aims to improve the performance and productivity of a plant, by reducing maintenance and operation costs, industry players are leveraging on advanced technologies to increase ROI. The conference will delve into topics on "Operations Reliability & Sustainability", "Process Automation" and "Plant Safety" over two days.

Held in conjunction with EnviroAsia2011, the two-day Sustainable Development and Waste Management Conference will also touch on various environmental issues, challenges and solutions in sustainable practices and innovation in energy efficiency.

CIA2011, AnaLabAsia2011 and EnviroAsia2011 will be held concurrently over four days at Suntec Singapore from 22 to 25 November 2011.
