Key findings for Korea and Asia:

OVERVIEW FOR 2011
GENERAL CLIMATE OF CAUTION WITHIN ASIA
- Most organisations proceeded with cautious optimism due to the troubled US and European economies within Asia
- Within financial hubs in Asia namely Hong Kong and Singapore, the banking and financial services sectors were impacted by global economic uncertainty which led to banks hiring conservatively

KOREAN COMMERCE SECTORS EXPERIENCED GROWTH
- B2C companies increased their recruitment of online professionals to expand their e-commerce capability and to grow their presence online
- There was strong recruitment activity amongst IT-sector companies as they prepared for product launches and implemented expansion plans
- Volatile financial markets impacted the Korean financial services sector with only moderate hiring levels witnessed

OUTLOOK FOR 2012
CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC SENTIMENT FOR ASIA
- For many companies in Asia, the same cautious approach from 2011 is likely to carry on into 2012
- While most companies in Asia remain conservative in hiring, the job market remains buoyant in emerging markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam
- Banks and financial services firms throughout Asia may adopt a 'wait-and-see' approach initially, companies will continue to hire for critical positions

CANDIDATE SHORTAGE TO CONTINUE IN KOREA
- Increased competition for bilingual professionals is anticipated as more Korean firms expand into markets overseas
- Salary increases of 10% are projected for job-seekers for many professional positions
- Securing top talent will remain a challenge with the talent pool in Korea expected to remain candidate-short
