Tokyo, May 11, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - The Tokyo community came out in force for the Thirteenth Annual TELL Charity Walk and Runathon, held at the Imperial Palace on Saturday, May 5. This year's event drew 687 runners and walkers, backed by 69 volunteers and cheered on by countless spectators.
The TELL Charity Walk and Runathon is an annual fundraiser for Tokyo English Lifeline (TELL), a Tokyo-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and counseling services to Japan's international community and helping to address the country's growing mental health care needs. This year's event raised JPY 2,369,000 yen, which will enable TELL to continue offering free, anonymous telephone counseling through its Life Line service and professional face-to-face counseling via the organization's Counseling Center.
This year's Charity Walk and Runathon incorporated a 10-km run, 5-km run, and a 5-km walk, with prizes awarded to the fastest runners, who placed as follows.

Entitled "Is It Depression or Teen Angst?," TELL will host a talk on Friday, May 11, exploring the characteristics of adolescent depression. The talk provides information on treatment, as well as resources for finding help for your child or student.

In addition, during April and May, TELL has lent its support to Japan's Spring Child Abuse Awareness Month, bringing attention to the cause through a poster campaign and the distribution of orange ribbons.
