Panasonic to Demonstrate "Revolutionary Technology" at IFA 2009

BERLIN, Germany, Sept 3, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - Panasonic Corporation will be presenting its latest digital audio visual products and technologies at the IFA 2009 Consumer Electronics Exhibition in Berlin from 4 - 9 September 2009 at its booth in hall 5.2 a/b. This year, visitors can look forward to a revolutionizing viewing experience that feels more real than it ever has been before thanks to Panasonic's new Full HD 3D technology. In the two 3D theaters in Panasonic's public booth area, the characters seem to emerge from the screen so that spectators get the impression to be part of the movie environment.

Panasonic's diverse line-up of digital audio and visual equipment, including full High Definition flatpanel TVs, digital still cameras (compact and interchangeable lens products), Blu-ray Disc recorders and HD camcorders, lets users enjoy crisper, more vivid images and astonishing sound never before experienced, all from the comfort of home. This year, Panasonic will exhibit a variety of its latest High Definition products that have gone from being prototypes to becoming reality thanks to the industryleading, cutting-edge HD technologies developed by Panasonic.

The slogan of this year's Panasonic IFA booth is "Revolutionary Technology" as the company will be showcasing many significant new technologies that live up to this claim. The 3D Cinema Experience area, which offers cinema-like Full HD 3D experience, will be this year's highlight. Panasonic, an industry leader for Full HD 3D technology, will be presenting its cutting-edge Full HD 3D Home Theater system in two dedicated 3D theaters. This home theater system goes well beyond today's conventional 3D technology, as it is the world's first to show Full HD 3D with far superior picture quality and a lifelike viewing experience. Throughout IFA, visitors to the Panasonic booth will not only Panasonic AVC Systems Europe Company, a division of Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH, be able to watch 3D movie trailers, but they will be able to take part in a 3D experience that is unparalleled by today's standards.

VIERA Plasma Technology

In the booth area devoted to VIERA, Panasonic will be presenting its extensive Plasma and LCD VIERA line-up, which includes 19 to 103-inch televisions. The VIERA product line-up is known for its combination of high picture quality, smart networking, environmental friendliness, and stylish design. Visitors will have the chance to experience Panasonic's revolutionary NeoPDP technology, which is incorporated in the VIERA Z1, V10, G15, and G10 series. Because of features like 600Hz Sub-field Drive with Intelligent Frame Creation Pro, THX-certified colour reproduction, game mode and 0.001 ms response time, NeoPDP panels are best suited to enjoy fast sports scenes, action movies and exciting games. NeoPDP delivers crisp fast moving images with deep blacks and rich details and at the same time is gentle to your eyes.

VIERA CAST - Internet content on your TV

With VIERA CAST, viewers can access certain Internet content at the push of a button while sitting in their living room. Panasonic will be announcing new VIERA CAST partnerships including the German newspaper BILD, the well known German broadcasters ZDF and ARD (Tagesschau) and, in the near future, Spain's RTVE. Eurosport will expand its existing content offering with two additional languages.

New TV models

Panasonic will be extending its current V10 NeoPDP line-up to include new 65-inch and 58-inch plasma models. When it comes to picture quality, the V10 Plasma Series tops the VIERA product line. Thanks to 600Hz Sub-field Drive with Intelligent Frame Creation Pro, 1080 lines of moving picture resolution, THX certified display and dynamic contrast of over 2,000,000:1, the V10 stands out through electrifying and cinema-level picture quality. Also included in the V10 line-up is Panasonic's VIERA CAST functionality, which enables users to access internet content on their TV. Additional V10 Plasma Series sizes are the 42-inch (TX-P42V10) and 50-inch (TX-P50V10).

Innovations in Digital Still Cameras

As an addition to its LUMIX product family, Panasonic will be unveiling the DMC-GF1. This new digital interchangeable lens camera-system delivers professional-level features and performance in a compact, easy-to-use body. The GF-1 joins the LUMIX G Micro System family to expand the product range with the Micro Four Thirds System standard.

Furthermore, Panasonic will exhibit its latest LUMIX digital still cameras, which feature revolutionary technologies such as the enhanced Power O.I.S., Face Recognition, iA (intelligent Auto mode) and recording movies in HD (AVCHD Lite). Panasonic will be showcasing the DMC-ZX1, which incorporates a 25mm ultra wide angle, powerful 8 times optical zoom lens into a compact, stylish body; the DMC-FZ38 super-zoom camera which allows users to seamlessly take high quality photos and movies; the stylish DMC-FX60 with 25mm ultra wide angle and the ultra-compact DMC-FP8.

Advances in Home AV Products

Panasonic, an industry leader in Blu-ray technology, is presenting Blu-ray Disc Recorders for the German market, as well as new models for France. The DMR-BS850 and DMR-BS750, which feature twin high-definition tuners, are capable of recording two programs simultaneously.

Additionally, both models include VIERA CAST, which gives users access to online services such as YouTube, Picasa, Bloomberg and ARD-Tagesschau. The integrated SD card slot and USB port offer users the possibility to play back many video (AVCHD, MPEG2, DivX), picture (JPEG), and audio (MP3) formats. In addition to playing back Blu-ray discs, the optical drive is also capable of reading
DVDs and CDs.

Panasonic's Home Video Products are known for their outstanding picture quality and crystal-clear sound as well as their seamless connectivity with other Panasonic products. In addition to its new Blu-ray disc recorders, Panasonic will be showcasing its extensive line-up of Blu-ray disc players and home cinema systems. All of them feature VIERA CAST to enjoy selected online content. Furthermore, their SD Card Slot and USB port offer users excellent connectivity. All this ensures the highest level of quality and convenience for the consumers.

Continued Commitment to Ecology and Society

Visitors to Panasonic's booth at IFA will also learn more about the company's social and ecological commitment. The Catlin Arctic Survey, an international collaboration between polar explorers and some of the world's foremost scientific bodies, was sponsored by Panasonic and will be presented at IFA. The aim of this polar expedition was to measure the thickness of the Arctic Ocean's ice cover. The data gathered during this expedition will be presented at the Climate summit in Copenhagen in December and intends to resolve one of the most important environmental questions of our time: How long will the Arctic Ocean's ice cover remain a permanent feature of our planet? Martin Hartley, an expedition member and the leading expedition photographer, will attend IFA on September 4 to talk about his experiences with the Panasonic LUMIX in the harsh polar environment. In addition, Panasonic will showcase its most environmental friendly and power-saving products. For the first time in Europe, Panasonic will show its new energy management vision that enables consumers to a zero emission household in the future.

Energy-Efficient White Goods

Panasonic will also be showcasing its line-up of refrigerators and washing machines in the dealers' and press area. The company introduced its first home appliances to the European market only a few months ago. These appliances from Panasonic are already positioned to set new standards with respect to quality and energy efficiency.
