Enhancing a Luxury Hotel With Quality Textile Products

- What can superior textiles add to a hospitality project?

High-value textiles, such as rugs, wall-to-wall carpets, drapery and upholstery fabrics, make a significant contribution to the image of a hotel. Style is key and style means quality and design.

Extreme durability is also an important component to high comfort. The longevity of first class products means a better return on investment for hoteliers.

- How could textiles be better used to differentiate one luxury hotel from another?

As more than 50 per cent of a hotel room consists of textile products, it is clear how textile can play an important role in setting a hotel's look and feel of luxury, make a guest feel at home on arrival, and give a sense of wellbeing and security. Luxury should not be just visible, but also tangible.

- What is critical for success on a hotel project? What service or experience are hotel guests looking for?

The interior of luxury hotels can be quite similar, but keeping the design suitable and unique to each one is highly recommended. Materials should be tangible and their function understandable. Natural materials, such as pure new wool, have properties that can enhance the hotel experience and wellbeing of the guest, as they can regulate air moisture, absorb odors and are naturally flame retardant.

- Any final words of wisdom to hoteliers?

The key is to specialise, make hotels different from each other, and different means better. People who stay at luxury hotels have high quality standards and expect only the best.
