Asia's Robust Oil & Gas Industry Spurring Demand for High Precision Engineering Solutions
MTA2013 will unveil a showcase of quality machine solutions specially designed for companies across the supply chain

SINGAPORE, Jan 14, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - Over the years, Singapore has built up a vibrant system of oil majors, drilling contractors, specialised marine equipment and offshore rig manufacturers, as well as engineering service providers. Riding on this wave, MTA2013, the leading precision engineering industry trade event in Asia, will be showcasing tools that aid in the manufacturing of machine parts for the oil & gas industry at the Singapore Expo from 9 - 12 April 2013.

Top quality machinery for oil and gas sector in high demand

Singapore is the global leader for the design and construction of offshore rigs, platforms and support vessels. Even without hydrocarbon resources, Singapore currently dominates 70 per cent of the global market share in the manufacturing of jack-up rigs for offshore drilling. According to Singapore's Ministry of Trade & Industry, the current economic uncertainties has not hampered the country's progress, for Singapore's marine and offshore sector continues to prove resilient with its total turnover in 2011 at $13.3 billion, and current net orders at a new high of more than $16 billion with deliveries extended to 2015.

With such imperative need for offshore equipment, coupled with the projected increase in demand in Asia for oil exports, the outlook for machine tool companies specialising in producing machinery parts for the oil & gas industry continues to remain upbeat.

MTA2013 zooms in on solutions for high value sectors

MTA2013 will be putting up a Capabilities Hub - a showcase featuring a group of precision engineering enterprises that provide a comprehensive range of products and services catering to high value sectors such as Aerospace, Complex Equipment, Medical Technology and Oil & Gas. Regarded for their high levels of competency, quality control systems, fast response & turnaround and excellent after-sales support, these companies include A&One Precision Engineering, ACP Metal Finishing, Beyonics Technology, CEI Contract Manufacturing, Chinyee Engineering & Machinery, Frontken (Singapore), Fujicon Engineering, Hup Fatt Brothers Engineering, Index Precision Industries, JCS-Vanetec, JEP Precision Engineering, Meiban Group, Microcast, Nanotechnology Manufacturing, Onn Wah Precision Machining, Racer Technology, Solidmicron Technologies, ST Kinetics Integrated Engineering, Trek 2000 International, Tru-Marine, Vigor Precision Engineering and Wah Son Engineering.

Tru-Marine has over 36 years of expertise in marine turbocharger reconditioning. With the installation of laser-aided-additive-manufacturing, the company has expanded its capability to serve the petrochemical, power generation and oil & gas industries. Its core expertise lies in the remanufacturing of worn components to their original condition, as well as the capability to extend the service life of critical new parts. Tru-Marine is a proud recipient of the Singapore Quality Award 2009, the most prestigious award conferred on world-class organisations that demonstrate the highest standards of business excellence.

"We expect offshore production to experience dynamic growth in the coming years. Tru-Marine is poised to capitalize on our entrenched competencies in component reclamation and remanufacturing to meet the industry's increasing demand for relevant technologies, products and support services," enthused Mr. Loke Yuen Kong, Director at Tru-Marine Pte Ltd.

The Capabilities Hub is designed to address the demanding and varied needs of the high-value industry sectors. For the oil and gas sector in particular, it highlights the manufacturers' capabilities that covers areas such as complex machining of specialised materials, fabrication of large components, materials testing, engineering services, supply chain management and systems integration. From the technology suppliers to manufacturers or sub-contractors to industry solution providers, the Capabilities Hub participants, together with the exhibitors in MTA2013, provide an enhanced, integrated experience for oil and gas industry professionals. Attendees can source for parts and components from suppliers as well as network with other manufacturers and industry solution providers under one roof.

"By allowing the manufacturers to showcase their know-how through the Capabilities Hub, MTA2013 provides the ideal platform for attendees from around the region to see and gain the knowledge in what the precision engineering industry in Singapore can provide. This is especially so for the production of Oil & Gas equipment, where Singapore excels in," states Mr. William Lim, Project Director at Singapore Exhibition Services, organiser of MTA2013.

Halliburton joins MTA2013 as Industry Partner

Halliburton is participating at MTA2013 to showcase its capabilities, technologies and solutions for the oil and gas industry at the event. Founded in 1919, the company has evolved to become one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. Armed with 70,000 employees in approximately 80 countries, the company serves the upstream oil and gas industry throughout the life cycle of the reservoir - from locating hydrocarbons and managing geological data, to drilling and formation evaluation, well construction and completion, and optimising production through the life of the field.

MTA2013 - Choice Asian launch pad for global manufacturing players

Beyond the Capabilities Hub, MTA2013 will also unveil global manufacturing bigwigs who will be demonstrating their latest portfolio of machine tools and tooling systems targeted at the Oil & Gas sector.

DMG Mori Seki will showcase the NLX4000 which offers stable machining with the widest slideways in its class and a high-rigidity structure.

Carl Zeiss will highlight its latest product in South East Asia - the O-INSPECT 322 multisensor measuring machine. This table-top optical Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is equipped with telecentric Discovery zoom lens from Carl Zeiss Microscopy, as well as multi-point contact scanning sensor VAST XXT. The telecentric lens allows test objects with different material thickness in the camera image to be measured in the right imaging scale. The low probing force and contact scanning VAST XXT enable precision probing for true 3D form and position measurements.
