Fair Highlights Include Three New Dedicated Product Areas |
HONG KONG, Nov 6, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - A record 700 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions are taking part in the 21st HKTDC Hong Kong Optical Fair, which opened today and continues through 8 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
Israel, Macau, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Thailand are first-time exhibitors to the fair, which features eight group pavilions: the Chinese mainland, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Visionaries of Styles and the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA). The fair is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the HKOMA.
3D & Kids Eyewear
Fair highlights include three new dedicated product areas - 3D & Kids Eyewear, Reading Glasses and the Small-Order Zone.
Brand Name Gallery this year welcomes 178 designer brands from 22 countries and regions. They include such well-known brands as BMW, Converse, DITA, Fitovers, Hummer, ic! berlin, Jaguar, Markus-t, Morgan De Toi and Paris Hilton. Brand Name Gallery is also the venue for a series of eyewear parades, each highlighting a special selection of exhibitor products.
Other zones on offer include Eyewear Accessories, showcasing cases, cords and accessories; Eyewear, Frames & Lens; Sporting & Professional Eyewear; and Contact Lens & Accessories.
Advanced Optometry Care
This year's fair features a variety of opportunities to gather the latest trends and industry intelligence. They include the 11th Hong Kong Optometric Conference, 7-8 November, focusing on advanced optometry care. The conference is organised with the Hong Kong Optometric Association and Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Fashionable Eyewear
Fair seminars include sessions on eyewear and fashion, strategies for entering the Chinese mainland's optical retail market, the global retail outlook for optical products, and branding, marketing and quality compliance challenges and opportunities.
Design Competition
The winners and finalists of the 15th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition are on display at the Wine Cellar, Hall 1B, throughout the fair.
Buying Missions
The fair welcomes 70 buying missions from more than 2,700 companies, representing nearly 3,900 buyers from 50 countries and regions.
Eyewear Exports
In the first nine months of 2013, Hong Kong exported HK$11.1 billion (US$1.4 billion) in spectacles, lens and frames, up marginally, year-on-year. Its top export markets for optical goods were the United States, the Chinese mainland, Italy, Australia and France.
