Lubrizol Announces Asian Availability of Two Oeko-Tex(R) Certified Breathable Resins for use in Textiles

CLEVELAND, Ohio, Apr 23, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - The Lubrizol Corporation announces the availability of two Oeko-Tex(R) certified TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) resins for use in breathable textiles in Asia. Both Estane(R) MVT 80 NT1 and Estane MVT 90 NT1, which are certified for Class I, II, III and IV uses by independent testing for harmful substances in textiles by the International Oeko-Tex Association, are now available via Lubrizol's Songjiang, Shanghai China manufacturing facility.

Estane MVT80 NT1 (80 shore A) and Estane MVT90 NT1 (90 shore A) are high-moisture vapor transmission resins for use as monolithic films in textiles. This allows the garment to be waterproof, yet breathable. Both resins have moisture vapor transmission values greater than 10,000 g/m2/day when tested under the ASTM International test method, E96 BW.

"We have listened to the global apparel industry, and there is an unquestioned need to shorten the length of the supply chain. Now, by offering these two Oeko-Tex(R) certified grades via our Shanghai facility, our processing partners are better positioned to supply their customers in a more efficient manner," notes Sally Lenhart, Lubrizol global market manager, performance films. "Lubrizol is committed to further expanding the reach of our Oeko-Tex(R) certified resins as a way to meet the needs of our global apparel supply chain partners."

The Oeko-Tex(R) Standard 100 is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of production. It was developed by the International Oeko-Tex(R) Association in response to the increasing demand of the global textile industry for safer, globally certified chemistries.

In addition, Lubrizol will be highlighting other unique engineered polymer technologies at Chinaplas 2014.
