Norit at the Singapore International Water Week; A Gateway to Sustainable Solutions for Asia and the World

SINGAPORE, June 22, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - From the 22nd through the 26th of June the Singapore International Water Week will be the global platform that brings policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners together to address challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water world. An international Norit delegation will use the Singapore International Water Week as the opportunity to show Singapore and the rest of the world Norit's commitment to sustainability. Currently, Norit is extending its Asia Pacific operations in Singapore to underline its indefinite connection with the region.

Norit's extensive water portfolio includes technologies for desalination, municipal and industrial, POU, and decentralized water treatment as well as wastewater reuse. Comprehensive know-how and experience with projects of all sizes enable Norit to offer the most appreciated sustainable water solutions. The worldwide trust in Norit technologies is recognized by recent projects, such as the Marina Barrage in Singapore and the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works Project.

Norit Nijhuis solutions for the Marina Barrage in Singapore

The Marina barrage provides water supply, flood control and a new lifestyle attraction. Together with two other new reservoirs, the Marina Reservoir will boost Singapore's water catchment from half to two-third's of the country's land area. In the weekend before the Singapore International Water Week, on the 20th and 21st of June, the PUB, Singapore's national water agency (www.pub.gov.sg) and Singapore Polytechnic (www.sp.edu.sg) jointly organize the Singapore International Water Festival at the Marina Barrage to educate the public and especially the younger generation on the importance of environmental sustainability. Norit Nijhuis is very proud to have supplied seven enormous vertical pumps for the pumping station of the "Superior Achievement Award" winner, which is the highest honor for the best environmental engineering project organized by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers in May 2009.

Norit X-Flow solutions for the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works Project in Qatar

Another spectacular project is the supply of Norit XIGA(TM) ultrafiltration (UF) membranes in combination with Norit standardized UF skids to the Doha North Sewage Treatment Works Project in Qatar. Norit X-Flow received this order from Keppel Seghers, a member of the Infrastructure Division of Keppel Corporation. The Doha project will be the largest UF-based wastewater reuse project in the world. The new facility will produce high quality water, meeting the 4-log virus removal level, which meets the highest public safety standard. The recent win of this project further strengthens Norit X-Flow's leading position as a supplier of UF technology.
