TOKYO, Aug 28, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the month of July 2009, including an all-time record for any month for production in China.
Production -
Production in Japan for the month of July 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since November 2008).
Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the tenth consecutive month (since October 2008), although setting an all-time record for any month for production in China.
Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the ninth consecutive month (since November 2008).
Japan Domestic Market Sales -
Total Japan domestic market auto sales for the month of July 2009 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three months (since April 2009).
New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the fourth consecutive month (since April 2009).
Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the eighth consecutive month (since December 2008).
- Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles: Fit was the industry's second best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of July 2009 with sales of 17,003 units. Insight was the industry's fourth best-selling car with sales of 10,210 units.
- Mini-vehicles - under 660cc: Zest was the industry's seventh best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of July 2009, with sales of 5,027 units. Life was the industry's eighth best-selling car with sales of 4,926 units.
Exports from Japan -
Total exports from Japan in July 2009 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the tenth consecutive month (since October 2008).
