TOKYO, May 26, 2015 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) today inaugurated a mega-solar power generation plant in Tadewara, Nagasaki City in Western Japan. The facility, which is being operated in cooperation with Toda Corporation and Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance, was completed on April 14, 2015, and commenced operation on April 15, 2015.
The power generation facility was constructed on premises left idle after plans to utilize the grounds for a golf course were abandoned. The project was also elaborated with full consideration for its impact on the surrounding environment by keeping filling and excavation and other forms of land modification to a minimum. In addition, land undulation was measured by 3D scanners in order to optimize the alignment of solar panels for the best sunlight reception. The project is aiming to provide a stable supply of clean energy over the next 20 years.
MC has developed eight mega-solar projects in Japan, six of which have already commenced operation, including the one launched today in Nagasaki. MC will continue to develop and operate power generation projects, including those that make use of renewable energy, in an effort to contribute to the steady supply of electricity in an environmentally friendly manner.
