14th Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility in Bangkok to explore Social Entrepreneurship and the Future of CSR

BANGKOK, July 22, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - More than 500 delegates from 25 countries are expected to take part in the 14th Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR), Asia's largest conference on CSR, which will convene on September 8-9, 2015 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

This year's discussions will center around the theme "Unleashing Social Entrepreneurship: New Partnerships for a Better World".

The focus will be on social entrepreneurship and creating smart partnerships between business, government and the social sector to address major challenges facing Asian communities.

Among the key questions to be discussed are: Is social entrepreneurship the future of CSR? How can the power of social innovation change lives? What are the new partnerships which shape our communities? How do you start, build and run a business that improves the world?

"The idea is to create a ripple effect of new knowledge and best practice being applied across Asia to build better communities," says Dato Timothy Ong, Chairman of the AFCSR. "The AFCSR will be a unique learning and networking platform, with many highly acclaimed figures sharing knowledge and experiences in an engaging, interactive format."

The AFCSR will cover seventeen sessions, divided into plenary sessions for big issues and challenges, and cutting-edge smaller breakout discussions focusing on the more specific aspects of best CSR practices and social entrepreneurship.

His Excellency M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand overseeing the economy, is this year's Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker at the Asian CSR Awards Dinner.

The Forum will feature some renowned social entrepreneurs and younger, inspirational business leaders who are making their mark in several places around the world. They include: Sanjit "Bunker" Roy, a globally-acclaimed social entrepreneur and Founder of Barefoot College who is a Clinton Global Initiative 2013 Awardee; Heinrich Jessen, Chairman, Jebsen & Jessen (SEA), Singapore; Durreen Shahnaz, Founder of Impact Investment Exchange Asia (IIX) and Shujog (Singapore) and a 2014 Joseph Wharton Awardee for Social Impact; Tri Mumpuni, Founder of IBEKA Indonesia and a 2005 WWF International Climate Hero; Anna Stork, Co-Founder of LuminAID (USA) and winner of 2014 Chicago Innovation Awards and Mark Ruiz, Co-Founder of Hapinoy/MicroVentures (Philippines) and a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year Asia 2011.

Some of the best minds in CSR including Dr. Bradley Googins, Executive Director Emeritus, Center for Corporate Citizenship, Boston College, USA and David Grayson, Director, Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility, Cranfield School of Management, UK will also impart key messages.

Andrew Dy, GM Regional Programs at Asia Inc Forum, invites corporate executives and entrepreneurs to take part. "The benefits of attending the AFCSR include unique opportunities to stay up-to-date on important learnings and best CSR practices; gain new insight on innovate ways to collaborate; participate in discussions to shape CSR and to build relationships with a strategic network of key figures whose leadership and vision matter to social and economic development of the region," he announces.

The 14th AFCSR will conclude with the prestigious annual Asian CSR Awards on the evening of September 9. These are eminent acknowledgements of CSR programs which bear significant impact on environmental preservation, education, poverty alleviation, health enhancement as well as to companies who have fully embedded CSR into their core business strategy.

The annual AFCSR is co-convened by the Asian Institute of Management - Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (AIM-RVR CSR Center) and Asia Inc Forum (AIF), in collaboration with Intel Corporation as Strategic Partner; Bangkok Bank as Host Sponsor; and Jebsen & Jessen SEA and Procter & Gamble as Gold Sponsors.
