HONG KONG, Mar 1, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Mongolia Energy Corporation Limited ("MEC"; HKSE: 276) is pleased to announce that its subsidiary in Mongolia, MoEnCo LLC ("MoEnCo"), has received a formal expression of gratitude from the Governor representing the citizens of Khovd Aimak (Province), Mongolia for a wide range of initiatives put in place by MoEnCo for the Khovd local community, western Mongolia, as part of the development of the Khushuut coal mine and related infrastructure. The Governor also expressed the Khovd local community's support of MoEnCo's efforts for the ongoing development of the Khushuut coal mine and community improvements.
In the letter addressed to MoEnCo, Mr. Nyamdavaa G., Governor of Khovd Aimak, Mongolia, highlighted a number of the initiatives worked upon between the community and MoEnCo including a special mention of a number of matters.
These include various education and training initiatives. MoEnCo established vocational training centre, children's palace, renewal and refurbishment of local schools for training, education and workshops for various levels of the local community. MoEnCo also provided full scholarships with post graduation employment opportunities to 64 local youngsters studying at universities of Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan.
In terms of livelihood initiatives, MoEnCo delivered coal to close to 3,000 households in the vicinity of its Khushuut coal mine to assist the households through the harsh winter. MoEnCo LLC also provided shower facilities, import of medication, support for agricultural activities, including the drilling of new water well, the planting of greenery and laying of a new power distribution system amongst its many initiatives.
