TOKYO, July 28, 2016 - (JCN Newswire) - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japanese domestic sales, and export results for the month of June 2016 and the first half of the calendar year (January - June 2016).
Production Outside of Japan
June 2016
Production in Japan for the month of June 2016 experienced a year-on-year increase for the second consecutive month (since May 2016).
Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the 16th consecutive month (since March 2015), setting record high production for the month of June. This includes record high production in North America, USA, Asia and China.
Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the 13th consecutive month (since June 2015), also setting record high production for the month of June.
The First Half of Calendar Year 2016
Production in Japan for the first half of calendar year 2016 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2014).
Production in regions outside of Japan for the first half of calendar year 2016 experienced a year-on-year increase for the fifth consecutive year (since the first six months of 2012), setting record high production for the any half-year periods of the calendar year. This includes record high production in North America, USA, Asia and China.
Production worldwide for the first half of calendar year 2016 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2014).
Sales in the Japanese Market
June 2016
Total domestic automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of June 2016 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since March 2016).
New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in five months (since January 2016).
Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since March 2016).
(Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles) Fit was the industry's fourth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of June 2016 with sales of 9,936 units. VEZEL was the industry's ninth best-selling car with sales of 7,184 units.
(Mini vehicles - under 660cc) N-BOX was the industry's top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of June 2016 with sales of 15,622 units. N-WGN was the industry's third best-selling car with sales of 8,060 units.
The First Half of Calendar Year 2016
Total domestic automobile sales in the Japanese market for the first half of calendar year 2016 experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive year (since the first six months of 2015).
New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2014).
Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive year (since the first six months of 2015).
(Vehicle registrations - excluding mini-vehicles) Fit was the industry's fourth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the first six months of 2016 with sales of 58,671 units. VEZEL was the industry's eighth best-selling car with sales of 39,183 units.
(Mini vehicles - under 660cc) N-BOX was the industry's top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the first six months of 2016 with sales of 95,993 units. N-WGN was the industry's fourth best-selling car with sales of 47,480 units.
Exports from Japan
June 2016
Total exports from Japan in June 2016 experienced a year-on-year increase for the 12th consecutive month (since July 2015).
The First Half of Calendar Year 2016
Total exports from Japan for the first six months of 2016 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in four years (since the first six months of 2012).
