TOKYO, Mar 24, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) has decided to establish a Functional Polymers Division within its Chemicals Sector as from July 1, 2010 following the merger on that date of its consolidated subsidiary Showa Highpolymer Co., Ltd. (SHP).
As announced on December 15, 2009, it was decided to merge the two companies to accelerate the growth of SDK's functionalized materials/functional monomers operations and SHP's functional polymers operations through integration of relevant managerial resources, including human resources, technologies, organizations, and funds for investment.
In this context, SDK will establish Functional Polymers Division on July 1 to take over SHP's marketing, production, technical service, and supply chain management (SCM) functions.
The Division will have Composite Materials, Emulsion, Phenolic Resin, Electronics Materials, and Bionolle departments to take over SHP's marketing functions. It will also have Isesaki and Tatsuno plants, and Oita Production Department, to take over SHP's production, technical service, environmental protection, and quality assurance functions. Furthermore, SCM Center will be established under the Division to take over SHP's SCM functions.
Meanwhile, SHP's product development functions will be taken over by the existing Chemicals Development Department within the Chemicals Sector.
