Notice of Signing Basic Agreements for Airport Operation of the Seven Airports in Hokkaido

TOKYO, Aug 9, 2019 - (JCN Newswire) - On August 9, 2019, the consortium comprised of 17 companies, Hokkaido Airport Terminal Co., Ltd (acting as the representative company), Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd., Tokyu Corporation, Development Bank of Japan Inc., North Pacific Bank, Ltd., The Hokkaido Bank, Ltd., Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc., The Sankei Building Co., Ltd., Japan Airlines Co., Ltd., ANA Holdings Inc., Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation, Iwata Chizaki Inc., Doshin Service Center, Dentsu Inc., Taisei Concession Co., Ltd., and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. (hereinafter, the Hokkaido Airports Group) has entered into a Basic Agreement for the Airport Operation of the Seven Airports in Hokkaido (hereinafter, the Project) with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (hereinafter, MLIT), Asahikawa City Government, Obihiro City Government, and Hokkaido Government (collectively referred to as the Four Administrators). The Hokkaido Airports Group had been selected as the Preferred Negotiation Right Holder by the Four Administrators on July 3, 2019.

The core objective of the Project is to stimulate the regional economy of Hokkaido as well as marketing and promoting tourism encompassing all of Hokkaido, while prioritizing safety and security, developing core functions of all the seven Hokkaido airports to operate as international gateways, and promoting Hokkaido-wide tourism as a joint effort with local municipalities and communities.

In accordance with the Basic Agreement, the Hokkaido Airports Group will prepare for establishing an SPC and entering into the Project Agreement going forward. Further announcements on the progress will be made in the future while consulting with related parties.
