SINGAPORE, Nov 18, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - POWER-GEN Asia and co-located Renewable Energy World Asia, the regions premier conference and exhibition for the power generation, renewable energy and transmission and distribution industries, was commended by the industry for its quality delegation and enjoyed a successful conclusion to the three day event with a record breaking number of conference delegates. The event also concluded the Singapore International Energy Week.
Following a well attended opening keynote, which saw Senior Minister of State for Energy & Industry and Education, S Iswaran, report on the recent developments in the Singapore electricity industry and announce the acceleration of the country's LNG terminal expansion, the event saw 3 days of high level conference discussions to a nearly 700 strong delegation and almost 6000 industry professionals attend the exhibition.
During his keynote speech John Ng, CEO of Power Seraya said, "In Singapore, energy companies have committed to new investment to enhance the generation capacity fuelled by the new LNG."
Power Seraya, Senoko Power, Tuas Power, Keppel and Island Power have all announced and committed to new capacity fuelled by LNG.
Record attendance to quality conference
The conference discussed many issues, from future requirements for power generation to financing in light of the recent economic conditions, and from diverse renewable energy solutions to the need for nuclear power in the region to maintain energy security.
Conference Director, Nigel Blackaby, said, "This years conference has been the best in the history of POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia. Presentations have been of exceptional quality and feedback from the record number of delegates has been excellent."
"We are delighted with the quality of presentations from speakers across the region and around the world, bringing their expertise and knowledge to share amongst the industry. The region's utility companies also provided invaluable contributions providing an insight into their future developments and plans," concluded Blackaby.
Largest exhibition floor in event
With 170 exhibitors on the exhibition floor, the largest ever in the events 18 year history, displaying the latest products, services and technologies, there was an exciting buzz as companies used the event to launch new products and announce business plans.
Glenn Ensor, Director of International Events at PennWell, said, "This year's event has been extremely successful in attracting the regions power industry professionals, with almost 6000 visitors from nearly 60 countries."
"Coming off the back of a global recession, the recovering economies offer new challenges for the industry and great opportunities. POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia, in bringing the industry together, provides the platform for these challenges to be addressed. The products, services and technologies on display in the exhibition demonstrate the research and development that is being invested into meeting these challenges."
"I am also delighted that, as part of the Singapore International Energy Week, that Singapore has demonstrated its credentials as a centre for conducting business and wish to commend the Energy Market Authority of Singapore on its success and thank them for their support, along with that of all the sponsors and supporters of POWER-GEN Asia and Renewable Energy World Asia," Ensor concluded.
