Diverse Solutions for the Region's Power Industry Challenges
Malaysia is a relatively typical country in the region, in terms of predicting a shortfall in power capacity over the next few years.
A number of countries in the region, including Malaysia, have been considering a nuclear power generation programme to help address this situation, however events at Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant following the recent earthquake and tsunami in the south of the country, has led to some reconsideration of these policy.
Malaysia is currently investing around $10 billion in its power infrastructure, with tabled plans for additional gas fired plants, as well as a range of renewable energy farms including solar, wind and bio technologies.
The POWER-GEN Asia conference is a key forum for senior executives, industry leaders and senior engineers to discuss a range of important topics, the latestissues and solutions, in order to meet the challenge of the growing demand forelectricity in the region.
Conference Director, Nigel Blackaby, said, "With the recent developments in the region, especially the impact of the events in Japan, has given the industry much to discuss in terms of the options available to meet the predicted shortage of power."
"Malaysia is well positioned with diverse options from traditional fuels torenewable energy, but is the rest of the region set up to overcome these challenges? We look forward to some lively and interesting debates at this year's POWER-GEN Asia conference."
POWER-GEN Asia, co-located with Renewable Energy World Asia, is anticipated to receive around 7,000 industry professionals, who will gather for three days to enjoy the industry's leading conference and experience the latest developments and ideas for the future of the Asian power generation sector.
