ITT and PUB Singapore Mark Key Milestone in Partnership to Enhance Energy Efficient Water and Wastewater Treatment Solutions

SIWW, Singapore, July 6, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT), a world leader in the transport, test and treatment of water and wastewater, and PUB, Singapore's national water agency, today announced the completion of an Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) pilot system at Choa Chu Kang Water Works.

Advanced oxidation processes are highly effective at removing contaminants and micro-pollutants when other standard treatment methods cannot. The research will study the technical effectiveness and economic feasibility of using AOPs for contaminant removal. ITT's WEDECO MiPRO(TM) solution is one Advanced Oxidation Process which gives efficient removal performance for micro-pollutants with the combination of ultraviolet (UV) light, ozone and peroxide so as to provide the optimal treatment solution.

This is a key milestone of the memorandum of understanding ITT and PUB signed during Singapore International Water Week in 2010 to establish a formal partnership and collaborate in the areas of energy efficient pumping and secondary water treatment. Over the next year, both organizations will continue their collaboration through joint research in additional AOP trials. This project is expected to be completed by 2012.

"In the last couple of years, we have built up a vibrant and thriving water research ecosystem in Singapore with more than 20 centers today undertaking projects in various domains," said Mr. Khoo Teng Chye, PUB chief executive and executive director of the Environment and Water Industry Programme Office, which oversees the growth of the water industry in Singapore "The partnership with ITT adds to the vibrancy of the R&D landscape in Singapore and we look forward to expanding this collaboration in more areas."

Through this strategic partnership, ITT and PUB are looking into new advanced treatment technologies to enhance the water quality in Singapore.

"For more than three decades, ITT has been developing the most effective and energy efficient water treatment systems and technologies in Asia and we will continue this tradition as we spin off from ITT to form an independent water company later this year*," said Gretchen McClain, President of ITT Fluid and Motion Control. "We look forward to continuing our collaboration with PUB to enhance water treatment in Singapore and identify water innovations that can be implemented around the world."

In addition to the existing research staff in Singapore, ITT plans to hire additional research and applications engineers to support additional joint projects, and to expand its presence in the region. With more than 80 Singapore-based employees, expanding ITT's research capability in Singapore is a logical extension of the company's decades-long commitment to growth in Southeast Asia. Under the memorandum of understanding signed last year, ITT and PUB agreed to conduct applied research, share knowledge and build joint capabilities that leverage one another's resources. The two organizations believe these joint water handling and treatment capabilities will be key drivers for the development of new technologies and engineering solutions essential for the growth of Singapore and the water industry.

* On January 12, 2011, ITT Corporation announced its intention to spin off its Water and Defense businesses into separate publicly traded companies prior to the end of this year. The new Water Company, yet to be named, will be a global leading provider of products and technologies for water and wastewater; residential and commercial water; analytical instrumentation, with annual revenues of $3.6 billion.
