POWER-GEN Asia Facilitates the Nuclear Debate
Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation provide endorsement

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - POWER-GEN Asia, the region's premier conference and exhibition for the power generation, transmission and distribution industries, continues to gather momentum in the build up to the 19th annual conference and exhibition this September by receiving the support and endorsement of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI).

The annual gathering of power industry professionals will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 27th to 29th September 2011 and the recently launched Pre-Show Guide details the high quality conference programme with over 130 speakers from around the world, delivering a great range of strategic and technical presentations.

This years conference will see two breakout sessions specifically looking at nuclear power, consisting of panel discussions investigating 'Nuclear Power in Malaysia' and the 'Public Perception of Nuclear Power'.

Nuclear power comes under the remit of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), who have taken a keen interest in POWER-GEN Asia's contribution to the nuclear power discussions and with some key industry speakers and nuclear power experts contributing to the panels, both discussions are anticipated to be well attended, with nuclear power being such a current hot topic.

Conference Director, Nigel Blackaby, said, "The perception surrounding nuclear power and how it is communicated throughout society and reported in the media is an important aspect to the success or failure of the acceptance of the form of energy. We aim to bring some of that into the open with a panel discussion of experts, including media representation, who can provide a fair and balanced debate on how the industry can move forward and better educate the public to make a rational judgement about the real risks of nuclear power. It is certainly going to be a lively debate!"

The nuclear power panel discussions will take place on Wednesday 28th September at POWER-GEN Asia, being held at the KLCC Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 27th to 29th September.
