Robert Walters - Bilingual Hiring Up as Korean Economy Remains Solid

SEOUL, S.KOREA, Sept 1, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Bilingual and globally-minded employees were in demand as the Korean economy remained solid, according to the 2011 Market Update recently released by Robert Walters Korea, a leading specialist recruitment consultancy.

Employer sentiment was positive during the first half of 2011, with most companies reasonably optimistic that the Korean economy would remain stable. This sentiment was echoed amongst Korean candidates, with many bilingual professionals becoming more open to a career move.

Building on this optimism, Korean firms continued to internationalise their operations, and we saw a clear trend towards firms hiring more globally-minded employees. Increasing investment into Korea by foreign multinationals also saw salaries growing across all sectors for qualified, experienced individuals.

Other key findings for Korea indicate that:

- The highest volume of recruitment was seen in sales and business development positions
- A growing number of Korean nationals from abroad are considering a career back in Korea
- Professionals switching companies were motivated more by career advancement opportunities than strictly remuneration

Anthony Modrich, Country Manager - Korea
"The recruitment market in Korea continued to evolve as the economy remained strong and international companies increased their efforts to expand their business presence. The demand from international companies for bilingual professionals with the experience and soft skills to succeed in a competitive market is expected to continue."
