Fourth edition of Vietnam Culinary Challenge returns to showcase local expertise |
HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, Sept 16, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - The Vietnam Culinary Challenge will return for its fourth edition at Food&HotelVietnam2011, Vietnam's most comprehensive food and hospitality trade exhibition for the business and industry. Held from 28 - 30 September at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), the three-day event promises exciting displays of culinary skills by some of the best Vietnamese chefs in the industry.
Organised by the Saigon Professional Chefs' Guild and under the patronage of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and Food&HotelVietnam2011, the Vietnam Culinary Challenge has been recognised by the local culinary community as one of the key platforms for chefs to promote and present their expertise and techniques. This year's competition will include even more team and individual challenges that will test their skills to highest of standards. Spectators will be able to catch live in action competitors participating in one team competition and 13 classes for the individual competitions.
The team competition include a Dream Team Challenge, while individual classes include Vietnamese Cuisine Challenge; Vietnamese Cuisine Display; Chinese Cuisine Challenge; Five classes of Hot Cooking (Poultry, US Beef & US Potato, Australian Lamb, Fish/Seafood and Pasta); Plated Food Display; Plated Desserts; Dress the Cake; Fruit and Vegetable Carving and Bread Showpiece.
The staging of the Vietnam Culinary Challenge at Food&HotelVietnam2011 is testament to the trade event's strong involvement in the food and hospitality industry. Other competitions at Food&HotelVietnam2011
Food&HotelVietnam2011 is also entrenched in other areas of the industry, with competitions to serve other professions such as baristas and sommeliers.
Returning after a successful launch in 2009, the Vietnam Barista Competition (VBC) will be held at the event from 28 - 30 September, whereby the best of Vietnamese baristas will battle for the title of the country's champion. A highly recognised platform for Vietnam's top baristas, VBC adheres to the standards of the most prestigious international barista competitions. Spectators will get to see competitors prepare four sets of beverages including espressos, cappuccinos, and their own blended signature coffee drink in the allocated time of 15 minutes each. Held on 28 September for the very first time at Food&HotelVietnam2011 and organised by Sopexa - the official marketing and promotions arm for French food and wine, is Vietnam's Best Sommelier Competition. The Competition will also include a seminar for contestants in the morning, with the finals being held in the afternoon.
Bigger international presence at Food&HotelVietnam2011
Set to occupy 8,880 square metres at SECC, Food&HotelVietnam2011 will boast a 26 per cent increase from its previous edition in 2009, and a bigger international presence featuring 15 group pavilions from Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Korea (8), Singapore and U.S.A, with a new pavilion from Poland.
Organised by SES and Vietnam partner VCCI Exhibition Service, the trade event is in its sixth edition, and will see over 360 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions gather to showcase the latest products and services from the international food and hospitality industry.
To add depth to the exhibition and maximise value to both exhibitors and visitors, a complimentary conference will be held alongside Food&HotelVietnam2011. Organised by VINALAB, the conference offers insightful topics related to Vietnam's food and hospitality industry presented by highly regarded industry professionals.
