Marcus Evans Launches the In-House Legal Counsel Conference

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 2, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Legal counsels today are operating in challenging corporate and economic environments that are constantly changing and evolving. These changes have resulted in the need to evaluate present activities and adapt to new roles and responsibilities. There are also constant changes in legislation that affect the daily tasks of the legal department that legal counsels have to be made aware of and adapt to.

Marcus Evans, one of the world's largest conference organiser, has announced that the In-House Legal Counsel conference will be held from 8th to 9th March, 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya. This conference will assist with conquering these challenges through expert speakers from top companies, varying backgrounds and different countries who will share their experiences on how to handle risk management, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, compliance and human capital management.

"The evolving role of corporate in-house counsel encompasses more than offering legal advice to the company: he is a business strategist, a risk manager and a champion for good corporate governance practices", said David Lamau, the Legal & Regulatory Manager of the Kenya Tea Development Agency.

Key topics that will be discussed at the conference include establishing the in-house legal counsel as a business advisory partner; dissecting the implications of the new legislation; and negotiating, drafting, implementing, and managing regional contracts.

Nicholas Gitonga, Compliance and Legal Manager of Nairobi Securities Exchange discussed about the role of legal counsel in combating financial crimes with effective AML policies.

"Money laundering does not provoke a sense of injustice like murder or most other felonies but it is such an awful crime when examined closely. It provides the most dreadful dictators, drug lords, fraudsters and corrupt entities with an opportunity to profit from their dishonest activities. The whole world must really unite in fighting this vice."
