Salary Rises Anticipated in Korea and Asia - Robert Walters

SEOUL, S.KOREA, Feb 23, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Robert Walters, one of the world's leading specialist professional recruitment consultancies, has released its 2012 Salary Survey. Now in its 13th edition, the annual Robert Walters Global Salary Survey has been helping clients and job-seekers determine current salaries for professional careers in Korea and across our network of 23 countries worldwide.

The 2012 Salary Survey reveals that salary rises in Korea and emerging economies in Asia are expected to outpace those in more established economies such as Japan and markets in Europe. In Seoul, the talent shortage for bilingual job-seekers is expected to boost salaries by 10-15% with similar levels anticipated in emerging economies across Asia. However, salary rises will be limited to professionals able to secure new employment as recruitment activity in Korea will remain restrained due to uncertain 2012 market conditions.

Professionals moving into new roles in the expanding Chinese market should earn substantial rises over 2011 levels with some areas like operations, supply chain management and accounting projecting salary increases of 15-30%.

Competition for bilingual talent should intensify in 2012 with globalisation strategies and investment into Asia expected to continue. Offshoring to Korea within some sectors is also anticipated as businesses in high-cost locations such as Japan look to manage costs.

Outlook for 2012 salary increases for specialist roles:

- Korea 10-15%
- China 15-30%
- Hong Kong 10-20%
- Japan 1-10%
- Malaysia 20-35%
- Singapore 15-20%
- Thailand 10-20%
- Vietnam 15-20%
