GAP Conference Closes With a Newly-elected Chairman and a Possible Zimbabwe Fund

HONG KONG, May 30, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Global Alliance Partners (GAP), concluded a successful two-day conference, 21-22 May 2012, in Harare as hosted by Imara Holdings, the pan-African investment banking and asset management company and a member of GAP.

GAP had the pleasure of having Zimbabwe's Economic Planning minister, Hon. Tapiwa Mashakada, who delivered the key speech encouraging direct investment in Zimbabwe.

The Group CEO of Imara, Mr. Mark Tunmer said, "Hosting the 8th semi-annual GAP Conference in Zimbabwe came at an opportune time for Imara because it is well-positioned to take advantage of the country's expected growth rate of 9.9% this year, and share opportunities with members of Global Alliance Partners."

The Board of GAP Directors also elected a new chairman in Mr. John P. O'Shea, who revealed that some Partners within the Alliance intend to set up a fund aimed at investing in Zimbabwean stocks.

"We are keen to take the project off the ground and there are ongoing talks with Imara on how to structure the fund," said Mr. O'Shea. "This Zimbabwe fund could be the model for future GAP principals and employees to get involved in the emerging markets," he explained.

Aside from getting acquainted with the African market, Mr. O'Shea also pointed out that "each Partner in the Alliance came out of the GAP conference with a better understanding of each other's business, hence resulting in several actionable deals."

GAP's cross-border capabilities cover private equity, pre-IPO placements, share trading, research, funds management, and equity placement opportunities. It now has 14 partners in 28 countries, whose scope and reach span strategic markets in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and North America, providing a truly global platform.
