Bangkok, Dec 22, 2008 - (ACN Newswire) - The Asianux Consortium, founded by Red Flag China, HAANSOFT Korea, MIRACLE Linux Japan and VietSoftware Vietnam, announced that WTEC of Thailand will officially join the Asianux Consortium as the 5th member.
Following Asianux success in Mobile products in 2008, the Asianux Consortium continues expanding in Asia and welcomes new member, WTEC of Thailand, at the end of a harvest year. WTEC Company Limited, founded in 2003, specializes in System Integration and IT services, with over 400 customers in both the corporate and government sector. The company was rated by IDC as one of the fifteen most interesting companies in Thailand in 2007. As a member of the Open Source Software Network (OSSN) - an organization run by the Ministry of Science of Thailand - WTEC has taken part in many initiatives promoting open source awareness in Thailand. Owing to their contribution and effort, WTEC became the major commercial advocate of open source software and a leading open source house.
With WTEC joining them, Asianux further solidifies its position in the Linux for Enterprise OS market in Asia and enhances its contribution on a worldwide basis.
WTEC will release Asianux product nationwide; they will also develop Linux for Enterprise OS business through Asianux in addition to their own open source software business. WTEC already secures a variety of open source technologies and delivers many solutions based on open source software.
Thanks to the unique '4-CO' business model of Asianux - co-development, co-brand, co-support and co-marketing - the Asianux Consortium differentiates itself from other Linux vendors such as Red Hat and Novell. Asianux is contributing to the establishment of an Asian standard Linux Platform in terms of combining Asia wisdom with integrated local resources. According to IDC, Asianux became the 3rd largest Linux vendor in 2007. Since most Asian countries wish to promote the local software industry and OSS technology, the Asianux business model garners applause across Asia. Follwing WTEC, the Asianux Consortium expects more companies to join the consortium in the future.
Dong Jia, President of Red Flag Software states: "By the contribution of every member, Asianux achieved a great success in 2008. We are pleased welcome WTEC join Asianux Consortium at the end of this triumphant year. "I am incredibly pleased that Asianux welcomes WTEC as the 5th member and provider from Thailand following China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam." Takashi Kodama, President & CEO of MIRACLE Linux, said that "The market of the enterprise software in Thailand is $180M in 2008 and annually grew 15%. Current Linux market share is approximately 8% in Thailand, however, the due to spread of official licenses I believe that the Linux market share would be increased, which contributes to the progress of Asianux. Japanese government supports and invites over 250 engineers through Computer Association of Thailand to give the training of software development. I strongly wish that Asianux works for the improvement of Open Source Software in Thailand by experience of MIRACLE LINUX. "
Sujin Kim President & CEO of HAANSOFT said that "It is remarkable for Asianux to take yet another step forward expanding new business opportunities by adding a 5th member, WTEC to the Asianux community. We expect that bringing the new partner will strengthen the collaboration system in the Asian enterprise Linux OS market, as well as accelerate the global competitiveness of Asianux."
Dr. Tran Luong Son, President of VietSoftware said, "The accession of WTEC from Thailand to Asianux as 5th member is great news for all consortium members. This means a further expansion of Asianux in Asia, which has once again proved the significance of the 4-CO of the consortium. A greater membership of Asianux will lead to greater user confidence and larger market for the consortium
Phiroon Phihakendr, Managing Director of WTEC said, "We are very honored to be the 5th member of the Asianux consortium as we will have a chance to take part in promoting our Asian flavor of Linux in a big and Asian way. As businesses get harder to be profitable especially with the economic downturn at the moment, a lot of companies will take a serious look at open source. I am confident that the market will be more receptive to Asianux's way of selling than those of our counterparts'. Thank you for the big welcome from the members. We are looking forward to learning from the big boys."
