Three International Trade Fairs to Open 6 January
HKTDC Hong Kong Toy Fair at 40 Joins Baby Products and Stationery Shows

HONG KONG, Dec 30, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - More than 2,600 exhibitors from around the world are expected to participate in three international trade fairs, opening 6 January and continuing through 9 January, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, Asia's largest, and the HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair are organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The HKTDC and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd jointly organise the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair.

"A growing middle class, especially in such emerging markets as the Chinese mainland and India, is fuelling demand for toys, baby products and stationery," said HKTDC Director, Exhibitions Market Development, Loretta Wan, speaking today at a press conference. "The market for these items may get a further boost from the mainland's recently announced relaxation of its one-child policy."

Creative Collections

The Toy Fair will mark its 40th edition with a special display area, at Hall 3E, dedicated to Hong Kong toys over the past 40 years.

Some 1,960 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions are expected to take part in the show, including new participants from Belarus, the Philippines and Portugal. Indonesia will organise a group pavilion for the first time, alongside the Chinese mainland, Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and World of Toys.

Fair highlights include the new Smart-Tech Toys zone, showcasing innovative toys and games combining traditional design with smart devices and app functions suitable for kids, teenagers and even adults. They include augmented-reality story books, soft toys with handheld games, and an app for keeping virtual pet rabbits.

Something for Everyone

The new Therapy Toys display area will focus on products that help children and the elderly with their coordination and other issues and problems.

Kidult World, launched in the last edition, will return with 82 exhibitors offering sophisticated toys designed for grown-ups, including hobby goods, magic items, model vehicles, mechanical toys and collectible action figures.

Brand Name Gallery will feature 78 exhibitors, including Beleduc, B Kids, CMC, Color Rich, Daniel & Co, Dragon, Ein-O-Science, Enesco, Hape, Intex, Moulin Roty, Plan Toys, Welly, Viking Toys and Vtech.

Other theme zones include Candy Toys, Educational Toys & Games, Electronic & Remote Control Toys, Festive & Party Items, Toy Parts & Accessories, Multiple Toy Products/General Merchandise, Outdoor & Sporting Items, Paper Products & Toy Packaging, Soft Toys & Dolls, Testing, Inspection & Certification, Trade Services and Video Games.

Baby Boom

The fifth Hong Kong Baby Products Fair will feature about 460 exhibitors - a new fair record - from 29 countries and regions. They include first-time participants from New Zealand, the Philippines and Sweden. Highlights include the new Baby Food and Healthcare Products zone, along with Brand Name Gallery and World of Strollers and Gear.

Winners of the Hong Kong Toys & Baby Products Awards 2014 will be announced on 6 January, with winning entries displayed at Hall 3G throughout the fair period.

Winners will introduce their pieces during presentation sessions on 7 January.

DIY Stationery Supplies

The 14th Hong Kong International Stationery Fair will welcome some 210 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, including three group pavilions: Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. A new DIY Supplies zone will be launched, alongside Gift Stationery, Kids & School, Pen & Paper and Smart Office.

Industry Intelligence

A series of industry events will be held at the fairs, including the Hong Kong Toys Industry Conference 2014 under the theme "Global Challenges & Opportunities" (8 January), a seminar on baby-care product trends (6 January) and a symposium on stationery design and product packaging trends (6 January).

Visitors to the fairs will find additional opportunities at the HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show, 6-8 January, at the HKCEC.
