| Nearly 240 Exhibitors, New Fair Record, Taking Part |
HONG KONG, May 7, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Nearly 240 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, a new fair record, are participating in the fifth HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair, which opened today and continues through 9 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Shanghai to Missouri
Four group pavilions are on hand at the fair: the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association (HKMHDIA); the Shenzhen Association of Medical Devices; the Missouri Department of Economic Development; and the city of Shanghai.
The fair also welcomes first-time participation from Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
Major brands on show include Johnson & Johnson, NEC, and The Amazing Life, the show's biggest exhibitor.
Physiotherapy Spotlight
New this year is the Physiotherapy zone, which joins a variety of featured areas. They include: Rehabilitation and Elderly Care, spotlighting patient monitoring systems, orthopaedic equipment and wheelchairs; Hospital Equipment, showcasing electro-medical offerings and medical technology required by hospitals, from ultrasound and imaging equipment to surgical instruments and anaesthetic equipment; and the Tech Exchange, presenting prototypes of medical devices and equipment. The Tech Exchange connects exhibitors with research institutions, product developers and entrepreneurs.
Other product zones include: Medical Supplies and Disposables, Medical Cosmetology, Manufacturing & Design Solutions, Laboratory Equipment and Building Technology, and Hospital Furniture.
Buying and Selling Forums
A wide variety of business information sessions are on offer. These include Buyer Forums presenting opportunities in Eastern Europe and Australia (today) and Southeast Asia (tomorrow), as well as exhibitor forums each day.
Medical Trends
In addition, a seminar examining advanced technology and applications takes place this morning. Seminars on market trends (8 May), on medical technology developments in Sweden (8 May), and China retail opportunities (9 May) are also featured.
Medical and Nursing Education
The Hong Kong Health Care Federation is organising a seminar on the medical device industry in Chinese mainland this afternoon. Tomorrow, the Hong Kong Doctors Union is organising a seminar on the latest in coronary arterial stenting.
Two-Day Convention
The Hospital Authority Convention opened today and continues tomorrow, presenting more than 90 speakers and some 45 sessions. Special sessions target the mainland's healthcare, new clinical practices, healthcare policy and medical simulation, along with such clinical topics as respiratory medicine, chronic disease management and end-of-life care.
Buying Missions
The three-day fair welcomes 36 buying missions from 24 countries and regions, counting more than 1,200 buyers from over 900 companies.
