NEC Launches "HANA Migration Service" Providing Comprehensive Support for Migration to "SAP HANA"
- Taking advantage of the migration know-how of NEC's core system -

TOKYO, Dec 16, 2015 - (JCN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced the launch of the "HANA Migration Service" for providing comprehensive support for migration to SAP's in-memory platform "SAP HANA."

Companies that use SAP's products are beginning to actively consider migrating to SAP HANA in preparation for the future introduction of SAP's next-generation business suite "SAP S/4HANA," which was announced in February 2015. At the same time, there is growing concern that the return on investment in migrating to SAP HANA and an optimal means of migration are not clear.

This new service will bring together the know-how developed in the SAP HANA migration project for NEC's core system that supports the sales, accounting, and purchasing operations that NEC is now undertaking, the consulting service of ABeam Consulting Ltd., and the cloud-based migration impact analysis and test efficiency solutions of Panaya Japan Co., Ltd. It will provide comprehensive support for companies migrating to SAP HANA, from extracting the current system issues to calculating the return on investment, developing a means for migration, and performing the actual migration.

The service will exercise due diligence, collect operational process information, and organize IT asset information to achieve a broad understanding of the IT assets and operating costs of a company's management system. By identifying a system's issues in advance, a company can calculate the effect of migrating to SAP HANA more efficiently.

This new service will also clarify the effect of SAP HANA migration for system issues. NEC will provide support for customers to make the appropriate investment decisions by calculating the effect of both operation and IT aspects, drawing upon NEC's own SAP HANA migration know-how.

Moreover, NEC will conduct high quality migration. To achieve this goal, it will study the impact of the add-on programs currently used, and correctly understand the amount of programs required for modification before SAP HANA migration. The best migration system for SAP S/4HANA migration in the future will be planned taking into account the current IT environment, and a highly accurate migration schedule will be presented based on the results of the impact study as well as NEC's own SAP HANA migration know-how.

NEC will realize a safe and secure migration by providing a combination of the SAP HANA certified appliance servers, storage and high-availability cluster software, and virtualization foundation that are used in NEC's own SAP HANA migration. In addition, migration can be achieved at one-third of the SAP system downtime as that of conventional methods by taking advantage of the latest SAP HANA migration method verified by NEC.

"NEC is progressively upgrading and expanding NEC Global Enterprise Solutions, its lineup of solutions and services offered globally to enterprise customers in retail, distribution, manufacturing and other fields. HANA Migration Services are an important part of that initiative, and NEC will continue to provide solutions and services contributing to the growth of its customers' businesses," said Yutaka Noguchi, general manager, Global Products and Services Development Division, NEC Corporation.
