TOKYO, Mar 13, 2017 - (JCN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (TSE: 6701) and the Kiyosato Educational Experiment Project (KEEP) today announced that they will hold an environmental education program, the "NEC World Children's Nature Club," for three days from March 18 to 20.
This program will provide children from China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan with opportunities to exchange ideas using information and communications technologies (ICT).
NEC World Children's Nature Club, started in 2008, is held every year to help children develop an awareness of the natural environment and a global perspective. It also enables them to better understand the potential of using ICT within an environmental education. This year, children from Malaysia will come to Japan for the first time to take part in the program with children in Kiyosato. The children from the six regions will experience nature firsthand. They will also enjoy cross-cultural exchanges through a video-conference system with the help of NEC's local affiliates in each region.
"NEC conducts activities globally based on its 'Principles for Conserving Biodiversity' to contribute to conservation, which is one of the pillars of the 'NEC Group Environmental Management Action Plan 2017/2030,'" said Naoko Morizane, Executive Expert, CSR Promotion and Social Contributions Office, NEC Corporation. "Looking forward, NEC will continue to promote environmental education as part of its social contribution activities. Moreover, by organizing such programs as the NEC World Children's Nature Club, and by promoting related environmental programs, NEC will contribute to achieving the 'Sustainable Development Goals,' adopted by the 193 member states of the United Nations in 2015."
