In 2010, global 2G/3G/4G's infrastructure market decreased 10%, or 42.4 billion U.S. dollars. Among these, the decreasing of 2G is the most serious. It is predicted that the market will rebound to 9.7%. In 2015, a new round purchasing will begin, so the 4G (LTE & WiMAX) will be given an impetus. The analyst from Himfr.com said that WiMAX will be a choice to solve the ecological application, and it can be used in Smart Grid, Public Security and Private Communication, the most important is to satisfy the requirement of fundamental bandwidth. Because many of the news about LTE released which made people ignore the WiMAX equipment market, actually in 2010, the WiMAX market was rising 85% that larger than LTE, and the market is developing in a healthy condition.
In the second half of 2010, the LTE equipment market included the eNodeB and Evolution domain core network equipment. That is increasing 704% year-on-year.
Himfr.com's analyst predicts that the 4G infrastructure market will reach 16 billion U.S. dollars, due to LTE and WiMAX investment.
- Ericsson runs ahead of LTE infrastructure market, followed by Nokia and Siemens.
- Samsung runs ahead of WiMAX market, followed by Huawei and Motorola.
Himfr.com expects that in 2015, 2G/ 3G/ 4G users will reach 7 billion.
