BEIJING, May 31, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - According to reports of Himfr.com, in recently released first-quarter global chip industry reports, Intel still ranked the first. AMD ranked twelfth. In addition, the graphics chip maker NVIDIA again squeezed into the top 20. Compared to same period of last year, global chip revenue in the first quarter of 2011 increased approximately 11% overall.
Himfr.com (http://www.himfr.com/hot-products/) reports that Intel ranked first on the list with revenue of 11.8 billion US dollars, an increase of 25% compared to same period of last year. Samsung ranked the second on the list with revenue of 8.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 15% compared to same period of last year. Seeing from sales, Intel has 44% more than Samsung. AMD had only a slight increase of 2%, ranking 12th.
Himfr.com analyzes that through this position we can see that, in spite of the impact of mobile Internet devices, Intel still firmly keeps first position with their advantage in the PC and laptop market. This trend seems as if it will not change much in the next few years.
Himfr.com points out that mobile Internet devices as a new profit growth point of the chip industry have attracted the attention of various manufacturers. According to Intel's plans, the Atom platform is also extended to this area. To benefit from its strong performance, once the extension is successful, it is not impossible for Intel to control the mobile Internet market completely in a few years.
